When I visited Ireland in 1995 Mr. John Bradshaw of Tipperary Town, and also the C.E.O. of the Clann na hEireann Office, gave me a list of persons who had written to his Office requesting information on the Clan Ryan, Tipperary.
One of these was a Mr. Terry Ryan of Florida, USA. I subsequently wrote to Terry to find that he was already motivated to establish a Branch of the Clan Ryan in America. He welcomed my communication and the support it represented and continued his efforts along these lines.
However, Terry himself was very familiar with computers and his approach was very different to mine here in Australia where very few of the persons interested, at that time possessed computers, and fewer still had connection to the Internet. Terry made his approaches entirely by way of the Internet. He solicited expressions of interest over the Internet by way of the E-Mail. When sufficient interest was apparent, he then put a copy of the proposed Rules and Fees on the Internet. These were voted upon by e-mail and subsequently Election Of Office Bearers was conducted in the same manner. And so in 1998 the Clan Ryan Association US Sept was born.
